For the 4/2009-4/2010 cycle, Red Shoe Project has chosen to support My New Red Shoes out of San Francisco, CA in their efforts to spread awareness.
Here is a small bit of information from their website to give you a feel for their focus:
My New Red Shoes
“Join My New Red Shoes in its mission to empower homeless and very low-income youth to succeed in school by providing them with brand new clothing so that they may greet the school year with pride and by educating and rallying the youth community around the needs of homeless children.
For the 2008 school year, we were able to outfit 1,525 children from San Jose to San Francisco
for their first day of school by providing $50 gift cards to Old Navy and shoes for 5-11 years olds based on inventory supply from donations. You can Support us
in our goal to outfit 2,500 children for the 2009 school year.
My New Red Shoes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that works with Bay Area social service agencies to give the magic of back-to-school shopping to homeless and low-income children. We do this with the help of Clothing for Confidence Champions
that distribute C4C Gift Cards to their employees, members, or customers to fulfill. We also involve youth in the effort through our Kids Helping Kids
program and encourage kids and their families to pitch in by hosting Shiny Shoes Parties
and Shoe Drives
